Light Grey Suit
As I mentioned in my first blog post, your wardrobe should consist of pieces that offer the most versatility. One piece in particular you should consider is the classic light grey suit. I can only think of a few instances when this color of suit would not be appropriate (funerals and pool parties come to mind). However, for the majority of the year, the light grey suit should be a go to staple for every occasion.
At first instinct you may want to wear a pair of black shoes with your light grey suit. That's ok, but I strongly recommend the brown on grey look. Notice here that I am wearing a pair of single monk tabaco colored shoes that compliment the color of the suit. The shoes don't take away from the suit, yet enhance the sophistication of the overall look. (BTW, these Magnanni shoes are now under $200 at Nordstrom Rack).
You will definitely stand out amongst the crowd with this look, but not in a flashy or pretentious way. It's a look that isn't as common, but shows a sense of style and elegance - one of a dapper gentleman. Plus it shows that you put the time and effort in your wardrobe.
The fit of the suit is always important. I personally prefer the custom route (contact me if interested), but understand that option isn't always available. So, be sure to select styles and colors that best fit your body type, because if you don't feel comfortable wearing it then you won't enjoy wearing it.
Till next time, gents...
